Pormenor Trilho Tinto 2021

Pormenor Trilho Red 2021 (Douro, Portugal) is a field blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Barroca from 80+ year-old vines planted at 650m on the Alijó plateau, where schist and granite soils meet. The 2018 vintage was warm and low-yielding, but altitude slowed ripening, preserving freshness and balance. Grapes were hand-picked in late September, fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in old oak vats once used for Port, and gently foot-trodden with minimal extraction. After eight weeks of maceration, the wine aged 24 months in used French oak (225L and 500L) before bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
Bright red in color, the nose is discreet yet fresh, with mineral tones, green notes, and red fruit. The palate is light, elegant, and driven by minerality, with green tannins and subtle red fruit. Oak influence is discreet, giving a medium-long finish. It is ready to drink now but will evolve gracefully in bottle.
